Adapt this list to your route, weather, trip length, and group plan. Your trip leader should confirm animal-specific equipment, fit, load choices, and care instructions.
Pack saddle and load fit
- Use the saddle and pads selected for the mule and trip, and have the fit checked by your trip leader.
- Inspect straps, buckles, stitching, and contact surfaces before loading; set aside anything damaged or unfamiliar.
- Ask the person responsible for the animal to review the loaded setup and confirm the trip-specific load plan.
